PHUKET — 16 May 2026, Authorities in Phuket have initiated an investigation into claims of physical abuse involving a two-year-old child and the child’s stepfather, officials confirmed.
The allegations surfaced in the Kathu municipality, prompting local social welfare officials to collaborate with security personnel and the Phuket Children and Family Shelter. Their immediate focus was to provide emergency assistance and evaluate the child’s well-being.
As part of the inquiry, social welfare officers and municipal officials conducted visits to the area and held interviews with individuals related to the case.
It was reported that the child’s family has lodged a formal police complaint at the Kathu police station, seeking legal measures against the alleged abuser.
Subsequently, representatives from the Phuket Children and Family Shelter took the child to a hospital for comprehensive medical evaluations and psychological assessments.
Authorities indicated that the information collected from both the medical examinations and interviews would play a crucial role in the ongoing child protection proceedings.
Officials have assured that the involved agencies will persist in monitoring the child’s welfare and providing necessary support to guarantee both safety and legal protection for the child.
