IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a management agreement with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd to establish voco Phuket Patong, a premium hotel featuring 307 rooms. This new addition marks a significant expansion of the voco brand within Thailand and is set to open in 2028. The hotel will be part of the Abov Patong mixed-use development located in Phuket.
The Abov Patong project will encompass hotels, branded residences, a clubhouse, a theatre, multiple swimming pools, and a Kids Club, all situated on the hillsides of Patong. This signing follows the introduction of the voco brand in Thailand, which began with voco Bangkok Surawong, and is complemented by four other voco properties currently in the development stage across the nation.
Globally, IHG currently operates 137 voco hotels and has an additional 113 in the pipeline. Pathana Jitsaereetham, Director of Development for Thailand at IHG Hotels & Resorts, noted that the ongoing recovery of Phuket’s tourism sector continues to drive hospitality investments and brand growth. He stated, “Phuket experienced its most successful high season in five years in 2025, surpassing pre-Covid benchmarks. This resurgence highlights Phuket’s enduring charm as an island destination, with its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, outstanding cuisine, and renowned Thai hospitality making it a top choice for travellers from around the world.”
Pathana further expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd to create a unique property, emphasizing that voco Phuket Patong will enhance IHG’s diverse portfolio in the region, which currently includes seven hotels across five different brands—InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express.
Wuthikrai Kulsirisawad, CEO of Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd, indicated that voco’s inviting atmosphere aligns well with the vision for the Abov Patong project. He remarked, “The voco brand, with its inviting and charming atmosphere combined with the strength and reliability of IHG’s global platforms and standards, will fit perfectly within Abov Patong, an upmarket lifestyle destination that will elevate Patong’s positioning as a premier address for both residents and travellers alike. This marks our first hotel project with IHG, and I look forward to building a strong long-term partnership with the team as we introduce local and international travellers to experience the very best that Patong has to offer.”
Located approximately 150 metres from Patong Beach, the hotel will provide stunning views of the Andaman Sea and surrounding mountains. Amenities will include a restaurant, two bars, a spa, a swimming pool, and a fitness centre, along with convenient access to nearby attractions like Karon, Kata, and Kamala Beach. With this latest signing, IHG’s footprint in Thailand now exceeds 80 open and signed hotels across the country.
