Police Seek Help Identifying Foreign Motorcyclist After Phuket Teen Injured in Hit-and-Run

A Thai mother is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a foreign motorcyclist involved in a hit-and-run incident that left her teenage son seriously injured in Phuket on May 10.

The accident took place around 2:30 PM in the Rawai subdistrict. According to the mother, Rainbow Sarnrach, a foreign man riding a motorcycle with two passengers abruptly changed lanes, leading to a collision with her son’s vehicle.

This impact caused the teenager to lose control and crash, resulting in significant injuries. Photos shared later on the Phuket Times Facebook page depicted injuries to his left leg, right knee, and both arms, while his red Honda Wave motorcycle was also damaged, particularly on the left side.

Following the incident, the motorcyclist reportedly fled, disregarding a red traffic light in an effort to escape accountability. Witnesses stated that the group was seen heading towards Promthep Cape.

In her efforts to seek justice, the boy’s mother reported the hit-and-run to the police and managed to obtain CCTV footage independently. Despite the footage clearly showing the motorcycle’s registration plate, she expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the case and noted that her complaint had not been addressed.

In a bid to gather more information and spur action, she turned to social media. As for the teen’s condition, there have been no official updates beyond the injuries depicted in the shared images.

Currently, police have not released any information regarding the identity of the foreign motorcyclist or provided updates on the ongoing investigation.

This incident reminds the public of a similar case from February, where a foreign pickup driver fled the scene after colliding with three motorcycles in Patong. A Thai bystander attempted to intervene by jumping onto the rear of the vehicle but fell off as the driver sped away, fortunately without suffering serious injuries.
