On the 20th of this month, Asiana Airlines announced the expansion of its Mileage Now program, which offers year-round discounted mileage award tickets that began last June, to all international routes. This initiative allows travelers to benefit from reduced mileage requirements, with long-haul routes such as those to North America and Europe seeing discounts of up to 10,000 miles. For medium-haul flights, including those to Southeast Asia, Japan, and China, discounts range from 5,000 to 8,000 miles.
The promotional discounts will be available for approximately six weeks, starting today and continuing through the end of next month, on the Asiana Airlines website and mobile app. The specifics of travel periods depend on the route taken. For routes to Japan, which include a 5,000-mile discount, the offer is valid until September 15. Likewise, this discount applies to flights to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Ulaanbaatar within Northeast Asia for the same duration.
In China, several destinations including Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, and others will feature discounts for travel until October 26. Southeast Asia routes, with a 7,000-mile reduction, include Jakarta, Clark, Da Nang, Hanoi, and Manila, valid until September 15, while routes to Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Phuket offer discounts until October 26.
An 8,000-mile discount applies to Central Asia flights to Almaty and Tashkent, also valid until October 26. For long-haul destinations to North America, Europe, and Oceania, a 10,000-mile discount is available. Notably, only flights to Los Angeles in North America are discounted until September 15, with other routes extending until October 26, including Sydney. In Europe, discounts apply to cities like Barcelona, Budapest, and Paris until September 15, while London and Istanbul are discounted until October 26.
However, it’s important to note that business-class mileage discounts are not available on the Los Angeles, Rome, Milan, and Sydney routes. Asiana Airlines anticipates that these mileage award ticket discounts across all routes, especially during the busy summer season, will help stimulate travel demand that has been impacted by high fuel surcharges and provide relief to customers. An official from Asiana Airlines remarked, “We planned a network-wide discount promotion so customers can plan their summer vacations more cost-effectively through mileage discounts,” adding, “We will continue to review various measures so that mileage can be used in a valuable and useful way.”
