Austrian National Deported Following Disturbance in Rawai, Phuket

PHUKET – Immigration officials in Phuket have taken steps to deport a 39-year-old Austrian man after he was found causing a drunken disturbance in the Rawai area. The man, referred to only as Raphael, was apprehended on Tuesday following the circulation of a video that depicted him riding a motorcycle while intoxicated, obstructing traffic, and aggressively soliciting money from passersby. Authorities reported that Raphael had entered Thailand on a temporary student visa with the intention of studying the Thai language and culture. However, he had previously been warned for similar disruptive behavior but chose to repeat his offenses. Immigration officials expressed that his actions, characterized by public intoxication and harassment, posed a threat to public order, undermined Thai cultural values, and adversely affected the tourism image of the country. Consequently, his visa has been revoked, and he is set to be expelled from Thailand.
