Authorities in Phuket have apprehended five individuals after a late-night incident involving both Thai and foreign nationals in the Midtown Walking Street area, located on Ratsada Road in the Talat Yai subdistrict.
The Mueng Phuket Provincial Police Station took action after videos of the disturbance began circulating on social media platforms. Patrol units were dispatched to the scene to restore order, resulting in the detention of the five individuals for further questioning. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Local officials, including Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn, emphasized the city’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safety and implementing security measures in important tourist areas to uphold public order and confidence. They reiterated that Thai law will be applied equally and consistently to both local residents and international visitors.
