The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued its sixth warning regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall expected tomorrow, affecting 35 provinces across the country. The warning is attributed to a strengthening southwest monsoon influencing weather patterns over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, leading to increased precipitation in the northern, central, eastern, and southern regions.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant for thunderstorms and substantial rainfall, which may lead to flash floods and runoff, particularly in hilly and low-lying areas. Additionally, health precautions are advised during this period of unpredictable weather.
Maritime activities will also be impacted, with forecasters predicting rough sea conditions. In the upper Andaman Sea, waves are anticipated to reach heights of 2 to 3 meters, with even higher waves in stormy conditions. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand may experience waves between 1 to 2 meters, which could increase during thunderstorms. Small vessels operating in the upper Andaman Sea are recommended to stay ashore, as reported by KhaoSod.
The weather forecast for Thailand from 6 PM today to 6 PM tomorrow is as follows:
North Thailand: Thunderstorms are expected to cover 70% of the region, bringing heavy to very heavy rain to areas including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, and Kamphaeng Phet. Overnight temperatures will vary from 22 to 26°C, while daytime temperatures will be between 29 to 34°C, with southwest winds blowing at 10 to 20 km/h.
Northeast Thailand: About 60% of this area will experience thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in Loei, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. Nighttime temperatures are expected to be 24 to 27°C, rising to 35 to 37°C during the day, with southwest winds at 10 to 20 km/h.
Central Thailand: Thunderstorms will affect 60% of the area with very heavy rain forecast in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, and Ratchaburi. Nighttime temperatures will be around 24 to 27°C, increasing to 35 to 36°C during the day, and southwest winds will blow at 10 to 20 km/h.
East Thailand: This region will see thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, with heavy rain expected in Chanthaburi and Trat. Nighttime temperatures will be between 25 to 27°C, while daytime temperatures will range from 32 to 35°C, with southwest winds at 15 to 35 km/h. Coastal waves are anticipated to reach 1 to 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters during storms.
South Thailand (East Coast): Thunderstorms are predicted to cover 60% of this area, with heavy rainfall in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range from 23 to 26°C overnight to 33 to 35°C during the day, with southwest winds at 15 to 30 km/h. Sea waves are expected to be around 1 meter, increasing above 2 meters in stormy conditions.
South Thailand (West Coast): Thunderstorms will affect 70% of this area, with heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, Trang, and Satun. Nighttime temperatures will be between 23 to 26°C, rising to 32 to 34°C during the day. From Phang Nga northward, southwest winds will blow at 20 to 40 km/h, causing waves to reach 2 to 3 meters and exceeding 3 meters in storms. From Phuket southward, winds will be at 15 to 35 km/h, with waves of 1 to 2 meters, increasing above 2 meters during storms.
Bangkok and Surroundings: The capital and nearby areas will experience thunderstorms affecting 60% of the region. Overnight temperatures will range from 25 to 27°C, while daytime temperatures will be between 34 to 36°C, with southwest winds at 10 to 20 km/h.
