In a statement posted on X, the Indian Embassy in Thailand remarked, "The Embassy has been in touch with the Thai authorities and closely monitoring the incident in which four Indian tourists fell unconscious in Phuket on 9 May 2026 and were subsequently hospitalized for treatment."

They expressed their condolences, saying, "Our deepest condolences for the death of one young Indian tourist among them. The Embassy officials are in contact with the family of the deceased to extend all support in this hour of grief. We remain in contact with the relevant Thai authorities who are looking into the incident, and also following the health situation of the others."

According to police reports, a 26-year-old Indian tourist has lost his life, while three others were hospitalized after they collapsed at a cafe in Phuket on May 9. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Local authorities indicated that the occurrence took place in the Kamala Beach area of the Kathu district. Emergency responders were dispatched to the cafe shortly after the tourists became unconscious. Three individuals were transported to Patong Hospital, while another was taken to Thalang Hospital, as reported by Bangkok Post.

Witnesses from the cafe informed investigators that five Indian men had arrived together around 11pm on Friday. The group consisted of Kushagra Agarwal, Rahul Agrawal, another Rahul Agrawal, Aman Agarwal, and Aryan Verma.

Four members of the group reportedly collapsed one by one without any apparent reason. Cafe staff promptly contacted emergency services, and the men were taken to nearby hospitals for medical assistance.

Patong Hospital later reported that two of the men remained in a coma and were subsequently transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further treatment. Those two individuals were identified as Kushagra Agarwal and one of the men named Rahul Agrawal, as stated by Bangkok Post. On Saturday, it was confirmed that Kushagra Agarwal had passed away, while the other three patients were reported to be in stable condition.
